Recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the top hospitals in the nation, this 300-bed midwestern community hospital provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services from emergency, cardiac and critical care to orthopedic, childbirth and other diagnostic and therapeutic services.
With the recent publication of the CDC Health Advisory calling for immediate reviews of sterilization and disinfection processes, Novia takes a look back at the sustainability of changes implemented in this 300-bed hospital’s CSSD.
“Two years later, we revisited the hospital to reassess the CSSD. We found the client had been able to sustain the changes made in relation to CSSD processes and regulatory compliance.”
During the 12-week implementation project, Novia’s experts served as thought partners and collaborated with hospital leadership, physicians, management, and staff to focus on Leadership Development, Team, Practice and Quality, and the Environment of Care in CSSD.
At the time of the reassessment, the Novia team found:
- CSSD staff are complying with all steps as directed by the device manufacturers in reprocessing reusable medical devices
- Appropriate policies and procedures are in place and are consistent with current standards and guidelines
- The physical plant is sustained with processes to support environmental cleanliness and preventative
- The number of certified CSSD professionals continues to increase
