Over the course of his 20-year career in the healthcare industry, Don has developed a solid reputation as a collaborative leader who does not hesitate to roll up his sleeves and lead by example. He has both financial and clinical experience with operational responsibilities for patient care delivery, fiscal management, staff development, and government and regulatory compliance. Don’s unwavering passion for technology has also enabled him to lead clients through complex optimization projects and has led him to develop Novia’s Technology practice.
Don partners with clients to improve operating results, increase net revenue, and reduce costs through the design and successful deployment of technology and process improvement strategies. Don engages the client to develop stretch operating and financial performance targets with corresponding metrics, and proactively tracks progress and adjusts tactics as needed to achieve the desired performance goals. Don excels at developing consistent workflow processes through all project phases to achieve best practice outcomes. In doing so, he improves the quality and enhances inter-departmental coordination, eliminating operational silos.
Prior to joining Novia, Don was the Corporate Director of Revenue Cycle with a large faith-based healthcare network in Reno, Nevada. There, he established and managed a sustainable revenue cycle function utilizing key performance indicators for setting and benchmarking revenue cycle goals. Don also managed his own independent consulting practice specializing in interim and project management services for hospitals ranging in size from community hospitals to large, integrated delivery networks. Additionally, Don was the Practice Director for a Bay-area firm specializing in information technology and revenue cycle management consulting.
Education and Qualifications
Don holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from San Francisco State University and is active in several professional organizations, including the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and the Association for Healthcare Resource & Materials Management (AHRMM).
