Leadership

In her role as Compensation and Benefits practice lead and Revenue Cycle practice lead, Theresa brings more than 25 years of financial and human resource (HR) experience to hospitals across the country. Leading a team of subject matter experts, Theresa enables clients to align their HR policies and programs to their overall strategic plan, in turn helping them increase staff engagement and decrease costs in an increasingly competitive healthcare labor market. Her empathetic approach, combined with her impressive subject matter expertise, makes her an ideal partner for C-suite and executive leaders as they undertake sensitive HR-related projects.

Expertise

With human resources and financial management becoming increasingly intertwined, Theresa’s unique experience as an industry expert in both these realms enables her to deliver significant cost-savings and value-enhancement for every client. Project examples include compensation reviews (base and premium pay), surveys and payroll audits, alignment of HR policies, and employee benefit and leave management program design. Additionally, with an established career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Theresa guides hospitals and health systems through complex financial projects designed to improve the full revenue cycle, from patient registration through payor collection. This 360-degree approach achieves net revenue realization and reduces revenue processing-related costs.

Experience

Prior to joining Novia, Theresa served in a number of leadership positions, including Chief Financial Officer/Vice President of Human Resources for a regional financial institution. She has served on a number of merger and acquisition teams, both as an acquirer and target. Throughout her career as both CPA and consultant, Theresa has helped her clients align business processes with short- and long-term goals. Since focusing her career in healthcare, she has assisted hospitals and academic medical centers across the nation to appropriately balance employee and employer needs according to their culture and geographic area.

Education and Qualifications

Theresa earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Tulsa. She has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since 1984 and has achieved the designation of Senior Professional in Human Resources.
